System requirements
macOS 14 Sonoma or later
Built natively for macOS with Swift, AppKit and SwiftUI.
Apple Silicon or Intel
Release builds are universal binaries.
Local storage
History size is limited only by the free space on your Mac.
Accessibility (optional)
Only needed to paste automatically. Without it, a click copies.
Installation
Clipivo ships as a disk image on GitHub Releases. Installing takes about a minute.
01Download
Get the latest build from GitHub Releases.
02Open the DMG
Double-click the disk image to mount it.
03Move to Applications
Drag Clipivo into your Applications folder.
04Open it once
macOS blocks it the first time with this message — expected for any app without a paid $99/year Apple certificate, not a sign something’s wrong. Click Done.
05Open Anyway
On macOS 15 and later, go to Privacy & Security, click Open Anyway next to Clipivo, and confirm. (macOS 14: right-click Clipivo › Open › Open — no settings step needed.) This is one-time, per install.
06Allow Accessibility
Lets Clipivo paste into the app you’re using. Without it, a click copies and you press ⌘V.
07Done
Press ⇧⌘V anywhere. Copy as usual — Clipivo remembers.
First launch
The warning doesn’t mean Clipivo is unsafe. Apple shows it for every app that isn’t notarized through their paid ($99/year) Developer Program — free and indie apps included. Clipivo’s source is public on GitHub so anyone can check exactly what it does, and the download’s checksum is published below so you can confirm the file wasn’t altered.
macOS blocks the very first launch to confirm you mean to open it. This is a one-time step, done once per install.
- macOS 15 Sequoia and later: open Clipivo, click Done when macOS says it can’t verify the app, then go to System Settings › Privacy & Security, click Open Anyway next to the Clipivo message and confirm.
- macOS 14 Sonoma: right-click (or Control-click) Clipivo › Open › Open.
Automatic paste
To paste into the app you were typing in, allow Clipivo in System Settings › Privacy & Security › Accessibility. It’s used for one thing only: sending ⌘V to that app.
If Clipivo is already switched on but pasting doesn’t work, select it, remove it with −, add it again with +, then quit and reopen Clipivo.
Updating
Quit Clipivo, download the new build and replace Clipivo.app in Applications. Your history is stored separately in ~/Library/Application Support/Clipivo and is kept.
Uninstalling
Quit Clipivo and delete Clipivo.app. To remove your history too, delete ~/Library/Application Support/Clipivo.

Clipivo 0.9.5 Beta
New
- Import history from another clipboard manager: Settings › Storage › Import from another app. Paste the history list you copied from your old app, or import a file it exported — no extra permission needed. Each item runs through the same classifier as a fresh copy (links, colors, code, etc.), so you can switch over and remove the old app.
Fixed
- The installer DMG now shows an arrow from Clipivo to Applications and keeps both icons in place, instead of two icons scattered wherever Finder last remembered its window.
Update
Use Check for Updates… in the menu bar menu, or Check Now in Settings › General. Or: quit Clipivo, download Clipivo-0.9.5.dmg, and drag Clipivo onto Applications to replace the old copy. Your history, settings and Accessibility permission are kept.
New install: open the DMG, drag Clipivo to Applications, then go to System Settings › Privacy & Security and click Open Anyway on first launch (this beta isn't notarized yet).
Requirements: macOS 14 or later, Apple Silicon or Intel.
